The Tasman District’s residential property market is experiencing the strong growth felt by much of the country. According to Quotable Value, the average house value has increased by 17.3% over the past 12 months – from $456,144 to $535,118.
Meanwhile, the Nelson Region saw a slightly smaller increase in property prices. QV reports that the average house value here increased by 15.6% - from $460,495 in June 2016 to $532,120 in June 2017.
Trade Me Property reports an increase in asking price of 11.2% over the same period.
Trade Me Property shows an increase in weekly rents of 7.1% in the Nelson/Tasman region over the past year, compared with a 2.3% rise in rents nationwide (excluding Auckland). Tenancy Services records the median weekly rent as $320/week in central Nelson and $400/week in Richmond/Wakefield/Brightwater/Mapua (Jan 2017 - June 2017).
